I am grateful for the opportunity to have served you, our Members, on the Board of Directors for Coweta-Fayette EMC for the past 3 and a half years. I want to continue to do that for you. The major goal of CFEMC is to provide its members with Reliable, Affordable, and Sustainable electrical energy. I want to help as we continue to do that for you. As members, you want the electricity to your home to be available 100% of the time (Reliable). Everyone wants a power bill that is as low cost as possible, and certainly competitive with other power suppliers in the area (Affordable). In addition, most members want the electricity to be produced by technologies that help protect the environment (Sustainable).
Continually maintaining and upgrading our infrastructure, such as changing out our old poles and properly maintaining our substations.
The use of Smart Technology on our Grid to monitor our power systems 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and to communicate with our technicians in our control room so that they can help keep your lights on even when problems arise.
Tree Trimming and Vegetation control programs are used to prevent outages from falling trees or creeping vegetation.
The average uptime for the past 12 months has been 99.9%. That's not 100%, and its not good enough, but it is close and the entire team is working hard every day to make it better.
The Georgia Public Service Commission publishes Residential electrical twice a year. The 2023 summer rates are posted at their website at this link: https://psc.ga.gov/utilities/electric/residential-rate-survey/?s=Summer+2023&u=&c=1500
Below is a list of the electrical providers in the Coweta-Fayette EMC service area and we are the least expensive of the suppliers in our area.
1.) Coweta-Fayette EMC offers our members access to solar panels from our 1.68 MW Community Smart Choice Solar Plant in Heard County. The Solar array has 5,472 panels. Participating in the community solar project we built several years ago gives members who are interested in green energy an option to participate in a way that is more economical than installing rooftop solar on their homes. We are currently adding a 2 Megawatt hour Battery Storage system so that the Solar Power can be stored and then used day or night. https://utility.org/smart-choice-solar/
2.) Our Smart Choice Home Program began offering members a FREE home energy assessment in 2016 that looks for air leaks, checks insulation levels, and evaluates your HVAC system to identify area that could improve your home’s energy efficiency. We also offer rebates on existing home programmable thermostats, heat pump HVAC or Water heater replacement. This link (https://utility.org/smart-choice-home/) has details on this program and much more.
3.) CFEMC is a founding member of Green Power that started in 2001 to provide the EMC’s in Georgia with renewal energy from landfill gas, agricultural wastes, and Solar. We have 1,400 MW of Solar power on line and another 705 MW under construction. As a member, you can purchase some of this renewable power as blocks become available.
4.) Electric Vehicles. Several years ago, CFEMC began a program that we call the “Drive free for a Year Plug-in EV program”. If you purchase a 100% EV, you can qualify for this program, as well as a $100 rebate on the installation cost of a Level 2 charging station. https://utility.org/ev/
5.) Reduce our Carbon Footprint. Since 2005, Coweta-Fayette EMC has reduced its Carbon Footprint by 50% and we are committed to reduce it further over the next 5 years as our fuel mix increases to 60% Carbon-Free sources with the addition of Vogtle Plants 3 and 4.
6.) Our Energy mix for 2023 is as shown on the chart.
